Moving From Cost to Profit
In Ruli, the Ihangane Project requires 2,000 kilograms per month of fortified porridge to distribute to HIV+ mothers and their young children through the NHI Clinical Program. Historically, we have purchased that fortified porridge from SOSOMA Industries.
By December 2015, Ruli’s new production facility will produce the fortified porridge required for the NHI program. Once our own porridge requirements are met, TIP will sell our new product, AHEZA (Bright Future) to local schools and businesses. Our goal is to gradually increase production so that the NHI program supply is completely subsidized in 2016. By 2017, we anticipate that profits generated from this social enterprise will be available to invest in additional services.
